Both fly fishing and casting techniques will be demonstrated and participants will be given an opportunity to practice casting techniques in an open field area. Trout Park fishing strategies and successful trout fishing tactics will also be discussed. Jun 8 Mother Goose Returns with Flora and Fauna - The Bonebrake Center of Nature and History will present “Mother Goose’s Flora and Fauna” on Friday, June 8, 2018, starting at 6:30 p.m. Mother Goose will be returning this year with a series of programs with fun, songs, and activities about various aspects of the natural world, including all of the wonderful plants and animals that make up our environment. There will be a few stories, a couple of songs, snacks, and maybe a short walk close to the house, depending on the weather. This program is especially designed for toddlers, preschoolers, and up to early elementary school-aged children. The cost is $1.00 per person or $5.00 for the whole family. Jun 15 Summer Art Party!! - On Friday, June 15, 2018 at 6:30 pm, the Salem Area Arts Council is hosting a summer art party! Bring yourself, your bestie, or a hot date to the Creative Arts Center in Salem and paint a beautiful picture with acrylic paints. Led by professional artist and teacher Tana Kettner, you can paint a scene and put your own special creative spin to it, then take it home. The cost is $25 per person, and all supplies are included--acrylic paints, aprons, brushes, canvas, and easels. This event for adults does NOT require any talent or previous experience, just a happy spirit and willingness to try. Bring your own personal style, your favorite beverage, and Tana will lead you through the process and you will be amazed at the result! Jun 30 Alley Independence Day Celebration ONSR - Ozark National Scenic Riverways will host the annual Alley Spring Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, June 30, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. This event commemorates the traditional picnic celebrations that were held at Alley Spring around the turn of the twentieth century when this area was the social gathering place for local families. The sounds of Po’ Anna Bluegrass Band and stomping of the Country Ho' Downers square dance group will ring throughout the valley. Free ice cold watermelon and lemonade will be provided to visitors. The Spring Dipper from Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, will be on site dipping up delicious handmade ice cream. Bring the family and a lawn chair or lawn blanket and take part in one of the classic celebrations that define the Alley Community. Alley Spring is located five miles west of Eminence, Missouri, on State Route 106.
