During this thirty minute program, Joe Shuster of Dent County Astronomers will share exciting details and essential information about this once in a lifetime event! Aug 12 *Back to School Fair* - will hold the Annual Back To School Fair for students in preschool through 12th grades. Families with a head of household last name of A-L can recieve supplies from 10:00 a.m. through noon, and families with a head of household last name of M-Z can recieve supplies from noon to 2 p.m. All children recieving supplies must be present the day of the fair. Aug 12 Bats Alive With the Missouri Bat Census - This is an interactive program where vistors will be able to witness how bats are captured in mistnets and processed for data collection. Vistors will also have the opportunity to use echolocation technology to hear bats and to see them with an inferred camera. Wear sturdy shoes and bring a red headlamp if possible as you will be moving through the different stations. Aug 18 thru 19 Free Concert At Echo Bluff State Park Amphitheater - Collin Nash and Hunter Hathcoat will give out free concert tickets at the Amphitheater both Friday and Saturday nights. Aug 22 Book Talk - Book talk is a group of friendly folks who read a novel each month and then get together at the library to discuss it. There is no charge to participate. A library card isn't necessary. If you are interested in participating, please join us at 1:00 on Tuesday, August 22nd in the library conference room. Aug 25 Water Color Workshop - An introduction to basic watercolor techniques will be presented by Salem watercolor artist Laura Wemhoener. Participants are asked to bring a photograph of what they would like to paint. It might be of a landscape, a riverscape, a sunset, or their favorite animal or person. Each participant will be guided in making a light sketch and walked through the use of watercolor techniques to bring the sketch to life. Participants should bring their picture, two cups to hold water (one diluting colors,one for washing out brushes),and a handheld hair dryer (if you don't have one,we can share!). All other materials will be provided. The cost is $25 per person and reservations can be made by stopping in at the Ozark Natural and Cultural Resource Center (729-0029) and paying the fee to hold your spot or calling 247-0279 for other arrangements6:30 - 9:00 p.m.(The Creative Arts Center-formerly the Teacher's Closet --behind the ONCRC)

Aug 31 Meet The Author! - Meet local author Cheryl Okimoto on Thursday,August 31st. The novels of Cheryl's "The Shepherd Series" and "The Ohana Project" have circulated exceptionally well among library patrons. Both series feature the Shepherd family and friends as they live,love,and strive to follow Christ.
