Mar 4 thru Apr 12 Art Across the Ages Exhibit - The Salem Area Arts Council is again hosting “Art Across the Ages” during the months of March and April to celebrate Youth Art Month. Talented young people and adult artists from all around the Dent County area will be displaying their works at the Ozark Natural and Cultural Resource Center beginning March 4, 2019. A “Meet the Artists” public reception with refreshments will be held on Monday, March 11 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 highlight this fun and exciting exhibit celebrating art that crosses the generation gap. The show will be available for viewing by the public from March 4 through April 12, 2019 Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is a wonderful activity for schools, families, as well as clubs and organizations, adults and children. Come be inspired by the marvelous artwork produced in this area and celebrate how art appreciation and artistic talent truly can span the ages. Apr 8 Mudbugs Club- Bird Nests - This amazing new activity/club, led by Janet Price of Moonshadow Moments, will focus on getting kids out and about on the property, running and playing and learning! This session is the first of three in April and May focusing on “housing” for our friends. Bird nests is the theme, and we will find bird nests, make a bird nest, and make an aid for birds in your yard making nests. The program will be aimed at children from ages six to twelve, but younger children may come if accompanied by an adult. This session will focus on housing for our friends. Its true insects can be truly pesky, but what would we do without them? No flowers, no food, no honey.... We Need BUGS! Join us as we build a Bee and Bug Condo for our useful friends at the Bonebrake Center. Then you can make a smaller version to take home! This program is aimed for kids ages 6-12, but younger can come if accompanied by an adult. Apr 26 Veterans Affairs Day - This is an effort to outreach to veterans of rural Missouri in the 16th District. The Missouri Veterans Commission will have service officers at the event. There will also be representatives from organizations that provide aid to homeless veterans and those who need help with living expenses. It doesn't matter when or which branch, if you have a question or issues to be addressed, please attend. Let your voice be heard! Learn about changes and new requirements for benefits. Apr 27 B.A.R.K Ranger Hike - Come celebrate National B.A.R.K. Ranger Day at Ozark National Scenic Riverways with a B.A.R.K. Ranger hike at Alley Spring on Saturday, April 27, from 10 to 11 a.m. This event is free and open to the public. Join a Park Ranger to hike your active four-legged friends up the overlook trail or, for a leisurely pace, along the spring branch trail. Following the hike B.A.R.K. Rangers will be officially sworn in as Ozark National Scenic Riverways B.A.R.K. Rangers and given an exclusive Riverways B.A.R.K. Ranger bandana. A group photo will be taken and a photo booth will be set up for taking individual pictures. Thousands of dogs visit national parks annually with their owners and have a positive experience. Unfortunately, unleashed dogs can go missing or harass and disrupt native wildlife that call the park home. B.A.R.K. Ranger programs teach responsible pet visitation to national parks, so both pet owners and their pets have a more rewarding experience.
