Nov 23 thru Dec 24 Trees and Trains - This magical exhibit is an experience in celebrating the joy of Christmas. It features trees decorated by individuals, businesses and organizations. The trees are creative works of art in a beautiful array of color and lights. Model railroad settings are included to demonstrate the magic created in 1901 when Joshua Lionel Cowen placed a moving model train in the window of J.L. Hudson department store in New York City. Nov 27 thru Dec 19 Dent County Toy Drive - The Dent County Fire Protection District will be hosting this year's Toy Drive. New or slightly used toys can be dropped off at the Dent County Fire Station, Salem Police Department, Dollar General or KSMO lobby. PARTICIPANTS can sign up for the toy drive on Wednesday,December 5th and or 12th, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Fire Station-Eligibility requirements apply. Dec 1 Christmas Parade of Lights "Toyland Christmas" - Christmas is in the Air - join the community for an evening of brilliant lights, music and good cheer. This year's theme is "Toyland Christmas". Parade entries sparkle with numerous lights that promote the holiday spirit. Parade ends at the Courthouse square. All need to complete a Parade Entry Form that is due no later than November 26th. Dec 11 Salem Area Chamber of Commerce Member Meeting - The BANK of SALEM is sponsoring the Salem Chamber of Commerce members meeting on December 11th at Southwest Baptist University-Salem Campus.
