The City of Salem is working with downtown property owners to enhance and beautify our city core. The Downtown Project is funded mainly through grant funding which includes a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant through the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). The main focus of this project is to upgrade our sidewalks to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards and upgrade the lighting with historically reminiscent street lighting fixtures and underground wiring to enhance the aesthetics of our historic business corridor.
