The Salem Police Department Investigations are handled and carried out by Detective Lucius Burns.  Lucius Burns has been with the department since 2014.  Burns is a graduate of the Missouri Sheriffs Association Training Academy. Lucius is a United States Army Veteran.  Detective Burns Started his career in Law Enforcement by attending the Missouri Sheriffs Academy and then becoming a reserve officer for the Salem Police Department before becoming full time in 2016.  Detective Burns has received specialized trainings in tactics, Interrogation, Criminal Investigations among other Law Enforcement trainings.    

The responsibilities of the Detective are to follow up on more complicated matters such as forgery, crimes against children, burglaries, homicides among other various crimes.  Detective Burns is also responsible for maintaining contacts and information sharing avenues with surrounding agencies to better solve cases that he is assigned.
