A person in this position should be able to operate all types of heavy equipment. He or she must be able to fix and repair water and sewer mains, residential and commercial service lines and be able to assist in the installation of new water and sewer mains and service lines. A Water Distribution Specialist must be able to test and maintain daily functions of the city’s four water wells and be able to make appropriate decisions to maintain water pressure and produce high quality drinking water for the public. Must also be able to do daily chlorine tests in the water distribution system to ensure the adequate amount of chlorine is being fed to the system. This position is required to stock and clean utility trucks, clean tools and communicate and present themselves to the public in a kind respectful manner even if confronted by an upset individuals. |

A person in this position must be able to perform general maintenance and construction work and operate tools and equipment in the upkeep of city streets, storm water ditches and culverts, and city grounds. Must also demonstrate the proper handling, care, upkeep, and cleanliness of tools and equipment used. |

The Wastewater Treatment Specialist must be able to do daily testing at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) including pH, B.O.D., T.T.S., 30 minute SETT, and TEMP. Should be able to take and preserve samples and fill out a chain of custody. Be able to make decisions and adjustments to the WWTP to produce a quality effluent. Must be able to clean rags and solids from bar screens and if there is a problem be able to pull a pump and unplug debris from impellers. |

Linemen install, maintain, and repair the electrical distribution and transmission system of the city. This includes conduits, cables, wires, and related equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switches. He or she also digs holes, using augers, and sets poles, using power equipment, and may be called upon to perform any and all aspects of maintaining the City electric system.
