Salem's Old City Hall is located at the corners ofold city hall
Washington and Second Streets. It is a three-story building with the city auditorium on the main floor. There are a number of activities held regularly at this site. The auditorium is equipped with a public address system and has a capacity of over 400 people. There is a kitchen in the basement of the building. This facility can be rented for community events.   • COMING SOON - Civic Theater - Watch movies in Salem's very own Civic Theater! Renovations to the auditorium are currently underway. Wach here for more details.
  • Drivers License Testing - The state of Missouri Drivers License testing takes place in the basement of the City Hall. This is scheduled by the Mo Highway Patrol and is normally held on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Wednesdays of each month.
  • Adult Basic Literacy Program - The Adult Basic Literacy Program is headquartered in the basement of the City Hall. This program is open to individual seeking to enhance their education skills. The program prepares students for high school equivalency testing. The staff is housed in the only office in the basement. You may contact the director by calling 573-729-4224.
  • City Council Chambers - The Salem City Council Chambers are located in the basement area on the east side (Hwy 19) of the City Hall. The council regularly meets on the first and third Monday nights at 7:00 pm. For details or a copy of the agenda, call 573-729-4811.
